Expectation during muscular structure therapy

What to Expect During a Muscular Structure Therapy Session

• Exclusively for Women:

Our sessions are designed specifically to promote women’s wellness, focusing on the unique needs of women’s bodies.

• Certified Healthcare Professionals:

Muscular Structure Therapy (MST) is a specialized manual therapy performed by certified professionals with specific training, including massage therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, osteopathic physicians, and physical therapists.

• Active Participation and Breathing Techniques:

MST requires you to follow verbal cues to move specific areas of your body (e.g., neck, shoulder, forearm) to contract or relax. The therapist will guide your breathing to enhance the flow of blood and mindfulness, ensuring that your body is fully engaged in the healing process.

• Tailored Pressure for Effective Results:

The pressure used during MST is customized to each client’s pain threshold and sensory experience. By applying appropriate pressure, we promote relaxation and optimize the effectiveness of the therapy, calming the nervous system and enhancing the overall treatment.

• Dressing for the Treatment:

For the treatment to be effective, clients should wear underwear or shorts. When working on the upper body, the bra will need to be removed. You will be fully covered with sheets during the session, and the therapist will step out to allow you privacy while you undress.

• Comfort and Privacy:

Throughout the session, your comfort is a priority. The therapist will ensure you are warm and comfortable, maintaining your privacy throughout the treatment.

• Pregnancy Considerations:

MST is safe for pregnant women after the third trimester, as long as there are no high-risk factors present.

• Client and Therapist Safety:

Both you and your therapist have the right to decline the session if there is any concern about the safety of the treatment or your well-being.

• Muscle Energy Technique (MET):

Some MST treatments involve Muscle Energy Technique (MET), which uses active muscle contractions combined with therapist-controlled joint movements to treat musculoskeletal dysfunction. While MET is generally safe, it may be avoided or modified for certain conditions. Other treatments, such as lymphatic treatment and stress massage, follow different protocols and do not involve MET.
