What to Expect During a Muscular Structure Therapy Session
*Sessions are exclusively for women, as our goal is to promote women's wellness.
*Muscular Structure Therapy involves the use of techniques that are only performed by certified healthcare professionals who have specific training in this manual therapy technique. These professionals often include: Massage therapist, chiropractor, athletic trainer, Osteopathic physician, and physical therapist.
*MST treatments require clients to follow verbal directions from the massage therapist to move a specific area (neck, shoulder, forearm, etc.) to contract or relax. Proper breathing during the treatment is also promoted by instructing the client to inhale and exhale at a specific moment during the service. This enables the entire body to be involved in the procedure and enhance the treatment by promoting blood circulation and mindfulness.
*The aim of this treatment is to tone the tissue reflexively, given that everyone's pain sensitivity is different. The pressure used in the treatment should be consistent with the sensory perception and stimulation of each person. By applying the proper pressure, the nervous system can be calm and a good sensory experience can be enjoyed near each person's current threshold, which enhances the effectiveness of the techniques.
*In order for this type of treatment to work, the client must wear underwear or shorts. When performing bodywork on the upper body, it is necessary to remove the bra.
*Throughout the massage you should feel covered, warm and comfortable. The massage therapist will leave the room after the client consultation to allow you to get undressed as instructed. You then go between the fitted sheet and the top sheet.
*This service is safe for pregnant women after the third semester if they are not at a high risk of pregnancy.
*The client and massage therapist have the option to refuse the session if there is doubt about the safety of the treatment of their well-being.
*The treatment will involve the use of a therapeutic massage technique, known as muscle energy technique (MET). A type of manual therapy used to treat musculoskeletal dysfunction by combining active muscle contractions with precise therapist-controlled joint movements. While it is generally believed to be safe, there are several indications where MET should be avoided or used with caution.
Lymphatic treatment and stress massage do not involve muscle energy techniques. Each of these treatments uses a unique protocol during the session.
Treatments are not recommended for any of the conditions listed below:
**Under any dehydration symptoms**: It can interfere with the flushing of impurities out of the system, which can result in headaches and nausea.
**Under the influence of alcohol or drugs**: Alcohol and drugs can impair your judgment and make it harder to give your massage therapist adequate feedback, in addition to dehydrating your body.
**In the event that a medication has a negative side effect**
**Delayed-onset muscle soreness**: DOMS can last from 24 to 72 hours. In the event of extreme muscle soreness, sensitivity may increase, making this type of massage unsuitable.
**Massage may be contraindicated if there are visible rashes, sores, lesions, or swelling.**
**This type of treatment may cause post massage soreness & malaise (PMSM). Although it's rare, it's still a possibility. To prevent this from happening, it's recommended to drink plenty of water before and after the session and stretch for the next 48 hours.
